The Safer Communities Fund has helped many organisations in our area to invest in security infrastructure to improve community safety. Under the 2021-22 Budget, the program is being expanded to support both:
– early intervention and;
– security infrastructure measures.
Early intervention grants will be made to support youth engagement activities which are
aimed at preventing crime. Examples of suitable projects include programs to help youth grow vocational or sporting skills, or services which assist at-risk youth to enter the workforce. Grants of between $200,000 and $1.5 million are available. Applications for early intervention grants opened at the end of May and close on 22 July 2021.
