It was an honour to nominate my friend and the next speaker of the House of Representatives, Andrew Wallace – LNP Federal Member for Fisher, and thank the outgoing speaker Tony Smith MP in Parliament!

Having nominated Andrew Wallace – LNP Federal Member for Fisher as the new speaker of the house yesterday, I participated in the tradition of dragging the speaker to the chair.

Historically, speakers were reluctant to take the chair because their role was often to communicate bad news to the Sovereign.
