Julian Leeser MP, Federal Member for Berowra, today called for local community groups and schools to apply for grants to carry out projects that will improve local community participation, contribute to viable communities and help schools achieve their priorities.

There are two types of grants available; Stronger Communities grants and the Local Schools Community Fund.

Stronger Communities Grant

Stronger Communities grants are available for organisations to carry out projects that will improve community participation and make our community more vibrant. 40 community organisations in our electorate have been recipients already.

Grants have enabled the building of playgrounds, scout hall repairs and maintenance of community facilities, among other things.

Mr Leeser said of the programme, “I look forward to seeing even more creative community projects funded.”

The grants are to cover up to 50% of a projects cost.

This is the 5th time these grants have been available.

Expressions of interest are due 26th August. Visit https://www.julianleeser.com.au/apply-grant

Local Schools Community Fund

Up to $200,000 is available for schools in the Berowra electorate through the Local Schools Community Fund. All schools in the electorate are eligible to apply for funding ranging in value from $1,000 to $20,000 with the money going towards a school project that meets the schools priorities.

“School leaders know what is best for their schools. This fund allows school leaders to pursue a project that will make the biggest difference to their students’ education,” said Julian Leeser MP.

The grant can cover up to 100% of the project’s cost. Examples of projects could be master planning, new music equipment or a programme to target student well-being.

Applications are due by 30th September. Visit https://schools.education.gov.au/ to apply.
